Vallehermoso is one of the great hiking territories of La Gomera. Here, paths connect hamlets, ravines, viewpoints, and highlands where the landscape changes at every turn. From the town center, routes ascend toward ridges and ancient slopes, or descend toward the coast following old working paths. The mix of rural heritage, volcanic formations, and sea views makes each itinerary a complete experience.
Vallehermoso Circular Route
Another accessible and highly visited option is La Laguna Grande, ideal for those seeking a comfortable walk immersed in the humid forest. Among ferns, moss-covered trunks, and clearings wrapped in mist, the trail allows unhurried enjoyment of one of the islands most characteristic environments. It is a perfect route for families or those wanting a first contact with the vegetation of the upper zone.
Hamlets Route
Also from the municipality begins the classic itinerary to La Fortaleza de Chipude, one of the islands most emblematic places. The ascent, which can start from areas near Pavón or Igualero, offers an open landscape with volcanic ridges, dry slopes, and stretches where the horizontal character of the great plateau is appreciated. The summit provides a wide view of several sides of the island, making it one of the most recognizable panoramic routes.
More Routes from Vallehermoso
Finally, routes like Vallehermoso – Tamargada or the journey to Vallehermoso Beach and El Pescante complete the municipalitys offerings. Tamargada offers a traditional path among palm groves and hamlets with well-preserved rural architecture, while the descent to the coast shows the contrast between the agricultural valley and the meeting with the sea. These are paths where a leisurely pace allows enjoying the landscapes diversity and the municipalitys genuine character.
Some variants also lead to Tazo, Arguamul, Macayo, or Los Loros, hamlets with strong rural identity that preserve traditional architecture and a close relationship with the territory.
